Bio
An accordionist and composer born in Guaíba-RS in 1998, Roger Corrêa began his diatonic accordion studies at the age of 6 with his brother, and improved in the Fábrica de Gaiteiros project, designed by musician Renato Borghetti, with the teacher Fofa Nobre.
His musical career began at the age of 13 when he became part of several groups of regional music from Rio Grande do Sul, before that he accompanied his father, also a musician, in parties and events in the region. Until the age of 16, his only musical school was folk music from southern Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina.
After coming into contact with Choro's language, he started to frequent these environments in the capital Porto Alegre and listened to artists such as Tom Jobim, Jacob do Bandolim, Pixinguinha among others.
At the age of 19 he moved to Florianópolis-SC where he started to work with several groups of Choro, Samba and Jazz, a period that developed the language of improvisation.
Roger has already taken his instrumental work to several countries such as Morocco, Spain, Portugal, Chile, Uruguay, Argentina, among others.
Also noteworthy is the launch of the Brasil na Gaita Ponto project with its trio launched at Teatro Álvaro de Carvalho (2018), Jurerê Jazz Festival (2018) Sunset Jazz (2019) Today is Baby Jazz Day (2019).
Throughout his career he has played with great instrumental names such as Renato Borghetti, Baby Kramer, Guinha Ramires, Jorginho do Trompete, Ian Coury, Félix Junior, Paulinho Fagundes, Ronaldo do Bandolim among others.
Currently aged 23, he recorded his first album entitled ´´Sul em Aquarela´´ in 2021, with the violinist of Camerata Florianópolis Iva Giracca and with the collaboration of musicians Arthur Boscato (7-string guitar) and Alexandre Damaria (percussion). Work that mixes the rhythms of Latin America with the improvisation of Jazz.
